Personal style is, well, personal. And since each of our bodies are unique, embracing our shapes and highlighting the assets we love most begins with finding clothes that fit our frames properly. That’s why it helps to know what your general body shape is, and the styles that’ll help you look your best. 

I always think everyone have their own personality and a beautiful body which makes each of us to be unique; however, our body come in all different shapes and sizes that we need to know our body that you can make a great look when you match every different outfit.

Some of us are curvier, some of us have narrower hips or broader shoulders etc. So now I going to share some typical body type that you know what kind of body type are you.

You can determine your body shape by using the waist-to-hip ratio. To calculate this, divide your waist measurements by your hip measurements.

To determine your waist circumference, measure around the smallest part of your waist. For your hip circumference, measure the widest part of your hip. Divide the waist measurement by the hip measure to get your waist-to-hip ratio.

How to accurately take your measurements

Shoulders

You’re going to need some help for this one. Have a friend or someone else you trust measure across your back from the edge of one shoulder to the other.

Bust

Place one end of the tape measure on the fullest part of your bust, then wrap it around yourself. Make sure to go under your armpits and around your shoulder blades.

Waist

Circle your natural waistline — the area above your belly button but below your rib cage — with the measuring tape like it’s a belt.

If you want an easy way to make sure you’re measuring the right spot, bend slightly to the side. You’ll likely see a small crease form — that’s your natural waistline.

Hips

Hold one end of the measuring tape on the front of one of your hips, then wrap the measuring tape around yourself. Make sure you go over the largest part of your buttocks.

3 tips to dress for your body type

These are important to remember regardless of what shape or size you are, because they’re designed to help anyone create a proportioned frame. 

1. Balance it out

Body shape is almost entirely based on your bone structure—not your weight. Use your outfit to balance your shoulders, bust, waist, and hips.

2. Draw the eye

Use lines to focus the eye where you want it to go. They can help you create curves, lengthen, or emphasize your favorite parts of your body.

3. Think about color

Your eye is also drawn to patterns and light, bright colors more so than solid black or navy. Keep this in mind when choosing separates.

I think my figure is between pear shaped and hourglass.

The four indicators are the general direction to simply find out what kind of body you belong to, but it doesn’t tell you that your body is definitely one of those four types. Such as me, my body type is between pear shaped and hourglass, which means it ’s possible that your figure is like me, between those of two.

Like what I said on the top that everyone have their own characteristics, personality and body shape, which means there’s no such thing as an “ideal” body shape, regardless of what some may try to tell you. The most important thing is that you’re happy and healthy.
